Reduce Forklift Accidents with the Forklift Information System

If you’ve worked in the material handling industry or warehouse setting for any length of time, then the following accident statistics might look familiar.

A workplace accident involving a forklift can lead to members of your workforce getting injured or worse. It can also lead to damaged products or company assets, which will either need to be repaired or replaced. The outcome of an accident directly affects multiple parties and can be a very time-consuming and expensive affair, especially if OSHA and your company’s insurance provider needs to get involved.

At OE Attachments, we stress following the protocols of safe forklift operation and encourage ongoing operator training. Most of the time, taking standard safety measures is enough to prevent accidents from happening (ref: 70% figure in the infographic above). But accidents are just that—accidents. This is why we created the Forklift Information System (FLIS), which is a solution engineered to reduce forklift-related accidents, injuries, and property damage by providing real-time monitoring and safety alerts before accidents can occur.

Using a patent-pending system of sensors and cameras installed directly onto the forklift, the FLIS provides data relating to load, speed, height, residual capacity, and other critical information. All of this is displayed via the 7” touchscreen monitor that’s installed inside the forklift cab. Having access to this information allows operators to make more informed decisions, thus, reducing the chances of having an accident that can negatively impact your company and its workforce.

The Forklift Information System contains the following features:

    • Access control (PIN or HID/RFID)
    • OSHA, maintenance, and personalized checklists
    • Impact detection; 30 second video is taken when impact occurs
    • Visual display warnings
    • Fork leveling; ensures forks are entering at proper level
    • Hardware modularity
    • Cloud services
    • Speed monitor and warnings (option)
    • Load indicator (option)
    • Lift height (option)
    • Residual capacity (option)
    • Proximity alerts (option)

The Forklift Information System can be tailored to fit the needs of your operators and workplace. No matter what work environment your forklift is in, the core idea remains the same: safer, more informed forklift operation.

All you need to do to get started is to contact our sales department. After gathering some information about your forklift vehicle and what solutions you use it for, they can generate a quote based on the features you need. It’s a simple process that only takes a few minutes.

Simply contact the OE Attachments sales department at 913-599-9040 during regular business hours and one of our sales associates will be happy to assist you and answer any questions you may have.
