The OE Attachments Forklift Safety Device FLSD (patent pending) is a forklift safety solution engineered to prevent forklift related accidents, injuries, and property damage by providing real-time and dynamic sensing, monitoring, and safety alerts well before accidents occur.


What Causes Forklift Accidents

There are two major causes of forklift accidents. The first is tipping due to the mismanagement of load capacity and capacity ratings based on static conditions. The second is forklift related collisions due to a lack of visibility either by the driver or a pedestrian. Here are some reasons why these occur:

Tipping Accidents

  • Incorrect estimation of forklift load center
  • Unstable load placement on forklift
  • Load exceeds capacity of forklift
  • Operating on uneven or sloped surfaces
  • Incorrect estimation of drop-offs or steps

Visibility Accidents

  • Load is too large blocking forward visibility
  • Operator is unaware of physical surroundings
  • Operator fails to watch back of forklift
  • Pedestrian is unaware forklift is coming
  • Pedestrian ignores forklift audible alarms

Our Solution

The FLSD (patent pending) integrates a proprietary system of sensors and cameras onto the forklift. Data is transmitted to the driver via a touch screen monitor installed within the forklift cab to increase operator awareness. The screen will instantly alert the driver if a safety hazard is imminent. All information is compiled to provide real-time visual, audio, and/or electronic and summary data.

Driver Alerts Include

  • Real-time calculation and status of available and constantly changing vehicle load capacity
  • Monitors, senses, and responds to external dynamic factors including acceleration, speed, ground slope, and drop offs
  • Identification of non-visible obstacles and hidden risks
  • A record of impact data for future accident prevention measures
